1. Start
up modeler and lets start making our blocks. Create a simple box in the
center of your scene. This is the object we are gonna use the "Point
Clone Plus" plugin on. Figure 1.
|
|
2. In
a new layer create a bunch of points using the "RandPoints"
plugin under the "Create" menu. Make 100 points and use "Sphere"
and "Falloff". This will create a sphere of 100 random points
that gets more dense in the middle. Press "Ok". A bunch of points
will appear in your view. Now we are gonna adjust the sizes of these so
we get a better result from the "Point Clone Plus" plugin. Try
to get something like figure 2.
|
|
3. Splendid.
Now its time to point clone. Put your points in the BACKGROUND and your
cube in the FOREGROUND. Then run the "Point Clone Plus" plugin
(Multiply->Duplicate->Point-Clone-Plus+). A dialog will open with
tons of options that controls the random cloning, they are all pretty
selfexplanatory. Enter the values according to figure 3.
|
|
4. When
you press "ok" your cube layer will be copied according to the
points in the background. Woho! Random polygons in figure 4.
|
|
5. Use
these functions, and mess around with the amount/position of points and
settings of the plugin. Its easy to recreate some interesting shapes,
like the one in figure 5. There I used a wavy shape of tons of points
and a more elongated, thin cube. Now go!! Run my child!! Make random cubes for the world!!
